We often hold panels and networking sessions with individuals from different professional backgrounds to learn about their area of expertise, career paths, experience as Latin Americans, or connection to the community in Canada or abroad.

Building Bridges: Insights from Latin American Consuls

In celebration of Latin American and Hispanic Heritage Month, SLASA hosted a remarkable panel discussion featuring consuls from Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina. The event explored topics such as diplomacy, professional development, and pathways for Latin American youth in Canada. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue and connect with diplomatic officials during a post-panel reception.

Latin American Speed Mentoring

In collaboration with McGill McConnect and the Deloitte Latin American Community, SLASA organized a dynamic Speed Mentoring event. Students rotated through small-group sessions with experienced Latin American professionals, gaining valuable career advice and personal insight. The event fostered meaningful mentorship, offered networking opportunities, and concluded with a social break featuring Brazilian food and refreshments.

Amiguis Lotería Night

As part of the Amiguis Program, SLASA hosted a Lotería Night where mentors and mentees bonded over traditional Latin American games. Participants had the chance to win prizes, and build a community in a relaxed and welcoming environment. 

Amiguis Scavenger Hunt

SLASA’s Amiguis Program brought mentors and mentees together for an interactive scavenger hunt across campus. Designed around Latin American and Hispanic-themed challenges, the event encouraged teamwork, and exploration.

Events in 2023 - 2024

"Cultivating Brilliance: Empowering Latina Leaders in STEM" panel

In an amazing collaboration with  Scientista McGill, POWE McGill, and Latinas In Tech Canada, SLASA presented the event .  The evening included dynamic speakers, insightful roundtable discussions, and valuable networking opportunities. Panelist Diana Soler, Júlia Prickens Lopes, and Alejandra Huerta provided discussions about being Latina leaders in STEM. Finally, participants had the possibility to grab delicious snacks from a buffet and grab drinks from the bar.
