One of the best and most loved SLASA events is our biweekly Coffee & Spanish reunions! Throughout the year, students gathered over warm drinks to practice Spanish or Portuguese in a relaxed, supportive environment. Events often featured creative themes, ranging from speed-dating games to educational collaborations with organizations like Swab the World.
To get one last taste of the summer, SLASA threw a memorable party inspired by Euro Summer and classy vibes at Pangea. DJ Valekitta kept the energy high all night with a mix of new and old-school reggaeton, while fresh palomas kept everyone cool on the dance floor.
In collaboration with the McGill African Student Society (MASS) and the McGill Arab Student Society (ASN), SLASA kicked off the fall semester with the McGill World Cup, an unforgettable day of football, national pride, friendly rivalries and community, all competing for the cup.
Just before finals, SLASA hosted a Karaoke Night at Gerts Bar. From throwbacks to guilty pleasures.
SLASA welcomed students back to campus with Sol Sazón y Reggaetón, a high-energy back-to-school party at Palazo. With music by DJ CAMM and a playlist full of Latin timeless anthems, the night was filled with amazing vibes and celebration.
SLASA hosted a Trivia Night focused on Latin America. Students formed teams to test their knowledge while enjoying free coffee and a relaxed atmosphere.
Funk it Up! brought the heat to Lola Lolita Bar with a night dedicated entirely to Brazilian funk. Featuring classic tracks by artists like Anitta and MC Kevinho, the event invited students to dance, connect, and celebrate Brazilian music and culture. With DJ PEGLOW and DJBECKER on the decks, the energy was high from start to finish!
As a way to get ready to kick off the four-day Easter weekend, BdA and SLASA collaborated to host a Thursday night featuring Latin American reggaetón favourites, warm beers, and greasy grilled cheese at the Leacock basement.
In a night filled with romantic vibes and Latino music, SLASA hosted an unforgettable Valentine’s Day party. The theme included a dress code in which participants indicated their relationship status, with white being taken, red being single, pink being complicated, and black being not interested/undisclosed.
