One of the best and most loved SLASA events is our biweekly Coffee & Spanish reunions! Throughout the year, students gathered over warm drinks to practice Spanish or Portuguese in a relaxed, supportive environment. Events often featured creative themes, ranging from speed-dating games to educational collaborations with organizations like Swab the World.
In partnership with CLASHA, SLASA hosted a lively Karaoke Night at Gert’s Bar where students sang their favourite throwbacks and Latin hits.
To close out the semester, SLASA threw an unforgettable party inspired by Bad Bunny’s latest album and tropical vibes. Held at the bar Blue Dog, the event featured a high-energy mix of reggaetón and Brazilian funk, offering students the perfect escape before finals with an electric atmosphere and music by DJ Ortizz.
In collaboration with the McGill African Student Society (MASS), SLASA kicked off the winter semester with Afrotón, a vibrant night of reggaetón and afrobeats at Le Belmont. The event celebrated Afro-Latin musical fusion, bringing warmth and rhythm to a cold January evening.
Inspired by the spirit of Karol G’ award-winning album, SLASA welcomed students back to campus with Mañana Será Bonito, a high-energy back-to-school party at Le Belmont. With music by DJ Dany O and a playlist full of Latin anthems, the night was filled with positive vibes and celebration.
In collaboration with McGill’s International Management Association, SLASA hosted a Trivia Night focused on Latin America. Students formed teams to test their knowledge while enjoying free pizza and a relaxed atmosphere.
Funk it Up! brought the heat to Blue Dog Bar with a night dedicated entirely to Brazilian funk. Featuring classic tracks by artists like Anitta and MC Kevinho, the event invited students to dance, connect, and celebrate Brazilian music and culture. With DJ Yams on the decks, the energy was high from start to finish!
Held in collaboration with BDA, BDAyayay featured a mix of reggaetón, Brazilian funk, and crowd favourites, alongside warm beers, and greasy grilled cheese at the Leacock basement.
To mark Día de los Muertos, SLASA hosted a cozy gathering at Restaura Lakalaka where students shared food, stories, and time together.
As a way to get ready to kick off the four-day Easter weekend, BdA (Bar des Arts at McGill) and SLASA collaborated to host a Thursday night featuring Latin American reggaetón favourites, warm beers, and greasy grilled cheese at the Leacock basement.
In a night filled with romantic vibes and Latino music, SLASA hosted an unforgettable Valentine’s Day party. The theme included a dress code in which participants indicated their relationship status, with white being taken, red being single, pink being complicated, and black being not interested/undisclosed.
